The Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design is designed for learners seeking advanced technical knowledge and practical skills in civil construction design, infrastructure planning, and engineering support environments.
This program prepares graduates for advanced civil construction design roles and senior para-professional positions supporting engineers, project teams, and infrastructure development projects.
Students will develop capabilities in:
- Civil construction design and planning
- Infrastructure and site development concepts
Engineering support and technical documentation - Surveying and civil design calculations
- Estimation and bill of quantities preparation
- Technical drawing interpretation and production
- Project coordination and construction documentation
- Problem-solving within complex civil construction environments
The course focuses on applying advanced theoretical knowledge, industry-relevant technologies, and practical problem-solving approaches to support the planning, design, and delivery of civil construction and infrastructure projects.

Graduates may pursue specialised or support roles across civil construction, infrastructure development, engineering support, drafting, estimation, and project coordination environments, with pathways into further study and professional development opportunities.
To ensure students have the capacity to undertake this qualification, applicants are required to demonstrate appropriate Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills and meet the minimum academic and English requirements outlined below. All applicants will undertake an LLN assessment to identify any need for additional learning support and to confirm that support requirements can be met by the college.
International Students
Age requirement
Students must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
English language requirement
Applicants must meet ONE of the following:
- IELTS Academic 6.0, or
- PTE Academic 50, or
- TOEFL iBT 60, or
- Successful completion of a qualification delivered in English (minimum 12 months duration), or
- Completion of an approved English language course.
Academic requirement
Applicants must meet one of the following academic criteria:
- Satisfactory completion of studies equivalent to Australian Year 12 in the applicant’s home country, OR
- Successful completion of a qualification from an institution where the mode of instruction was English and the course duration was at least 12 months
COURSE DURATION
This course is delivered over a total period of 104 weeks. The duration is structured as follows:
- 80 weeks of scheduled study/tuition
- 24 weeks of scheduled breaks/holidays
TRAINING STRATEGY & PACKAGING RULES
Total number of units required for this qualification: 12 5 core units, and 7 elective units Electives follow packaging rules and match vocational outcomes, industry needs, and qualification level.
DELIVERY ARRANGEMENT OF TRAINING PROGRAM

ACADEMIC PATHWAYS
Students who successfully complete this qualification may progress to higher-level studies, including (but not limited to):
- Bachelor-level programs in Civil Engineering or a related discipline offered by a CRICOS-approved higher education provider. The Australian Global Institute of Technology (AGIT) will provide students with guidance and information regarding suitable academic pathways as part of our ongoing student support services.
Note: As each unit is delivered as a standalone unit, students must achieve competency in all required units to be awarded the full qualification. Students who do not meet competency in every required unit will not receive the qualification. However, students who achieve competency in some units may be issued a Statement of Attainment for those units.

ASSESSMENT
Assessment methods for this qualification may include portfolios, projects, reports, written questions, case studies, and simulated workplace tasks, as well as observation of relevant skills. All assessment is competency-based and aligned with the requirements of each unit of competency.
LANGUAGE, LITERACY & NUMERACY (LLN) SUPPORT
LLN skills are essential for successful participation in vocational learning and for developing employability and workplace communication skills. AGIT provides support to ensure all students can meet the LLN demands of their course. All applicants complete an LLN assessment, and where additional support needs are identified, AGIT will provide guidance and assistance in line with its LLN Support Policy to help students progress successfully in their studies.
REQUIRED RESOURCES
Students will have access to classrooms, student facilities, free Wi-Fi, and all required course materials to support their learning and assessment needs.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) & CREDIT TRANSFER (CT)
AGIT offers both Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) to eligible students. Applicants may apply for RPL or CT before enrolment or at any stage during their studies if they believe they have existing skills, experience, or previously completed units that align with this qualification
NOTES
- A minimum of 20 contact hours per week of classroom-based study/tuition is scheduled, plus 4 hours per week of mandatory self-directed learning, to ensure students meet their student visa study requirements.
- The course duration may vary for students who receive Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) towards this qualification (e.g., students who have previously completed equivalent units).
